Welcome
In a participatory democracy individuals play a more direct role in their own governance, through "the power of citizen-to-citizen communications" which benefit both themselves and their community.
Hello everyone,
Welcome to our Blog page. We invite everyone to share their opinions and any information that is relevant for our group activities.

Just some quick thoughts about the president's address to Congress --
1. It was great to see that famous Obama smile. We have not seen it publicly in quite a while.
2. I was greatly impressed with his performance, especially the ease (including the not-so-gentle finger-wagging) with which he delivered his plans for our future. Although many pundits complained about his occasional "unpresidential" way of speaking (like when he said, "No one messes with Joe!"), I thought they made him appear to be a real person. After all, that's the way we would be talking to each other!
3. Obama's budget, although ambitious, could (and should) be passed quickly. Bipartisan support could be achieved if the Republicans would start to think of themselves as Americans first and not as politicians running for re-election. Unfortunately some of them are already gearing up for a fight. When will all this partisanship end?

The website looks great! What a great way to keep us all connected in between election cycles and to inspire some to volunteer even when times are tough for so many families.
Keep up the good work. I can;t figure out how to post a blog of my own so I figured I would just comment on Demet's!!!
Take care,
Derek
